A Sad Little Ramble.

I am a nail polish addict. I love it! Specially in the winter I love having bright colours on my nails that peek out of really long sleeve sweaters. I dunno. I just love the pop of color.

Also I dont follow the whole 'its fall so we`ll wear fall colors' thing. Its bright for me all the way. I seldom wear any nude or basic colors on my nails.

I found out about cherryculture.com through the blogsphere and went completely overboard ordering stuff specially nail polishes

I was so looking forward to receiving my order and doing my first ever HAUL!

But cherry culture is making me sad : (

I ordered on the30th of October and still nothing has come. They have given me a discount coupon for the next time I shop which is really sweet of them but next time will only come once I receive THIS package!

I really really hope it comes soon cos I genuinely like the site and would shop more from them. Although I do wish I had gotten to know about Joys Shop on ebay before I ordered from Cherry culture. But then again Joys Shop only has Nyx.

What can I do but wait 

Sigh.

Every store I go to is bursting with Cheetah prints. From shoes to bags. I think its kinda cute and Im tempted to buy one piece but not sure which one.

American Music Awards in LA

 The American Music Awards were held recently in LA. As much as I like music I don`t really care how many awards Justin Beiber won for his nursery rhymes. 


But when I was going through the red carper pictures some of the outfits caught my eye.

 Taylor Swift is almost unrecognizable with poker straight hair and a very edgy dress. Usually known for her soft big curls and frilly dresses this look came as a pleasant change. I think she looks super hot and I love that she`s finally experimenting a little without going all lady gaga on us.

 I love love love Rihanna`s Ellie Saab sheer lace dress. I am so glad that she colored her hair a little darker and it sets of the dress beautifully. Her previous hair color, a fiery hot red would not have looked this good.

I am also adoring the make up. Love the subtle green eyeshadow.

I have no idea what Miley Cyrus is wearing. Its just strange.And I don`t know why she`s gone all blonde. I used to really like her hair long and brown.

As for the dress, maybe I would`ve liked it if it were another colour. Maybe

Oh Kesha. I mean KE$HA. I dont understand why everyone must follow lady Gaga now and dress absurdly. 

If everyone starts doing, it won`t be absurd anymore would it?

It looks like she took grabbed all her tapes/cassettes,pulled the black ribbon out and cut it into a dress.

Katy Perry. Another one known for her wacky costumes, wore a simple and normal dress and an even wonderful post wedding glow.

I don`t even know what to say, the shoes hurt my eyes.

I usually like what Fergie wears and this dress happens to be by Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock. So i should like this dress, but I don`t. I don`t know what it is. It looks like a purple coloured armour suit to me.

I love Heidi Klum. I absolutely Love Lace. And I adore this dress. But I do have a problem with the crotch area. It just looks Wrong. I wish it weren`t so. I would`ve adored this dress much more. And also the waist band is too thick.

Jessica Alba. A simple look which can easily be recreated, but I would`ve done the hair differently.

John Legend, Christine Teigen

I loved John Legend`s model girlfriend Christine Teigen dress. The woman looks so damn classy! Also her make up is so simple yet sexy

Knots In My Hair

I randomly saw this picture somewhere and I instantly loved it! I soon figured out how to do it, and its so damn simple! It doesn`t show this nicely on jet black Indian hair but still its a nice detailed but messy little up do.


I tried doing this the day I had shampooed my hair and the silkiness works against this hairstyle. So I suggest you try this when there is some amount of buildup in your hair which provides some hold.

1. Dive your hair into two sections.
   
   
2. Tie a knot using the two sections. Just like you would with a rope or a string
   
   
3. Repeat. Tie another knot.
   
   
4. Done

I was surprised that it didn't open up. But it would be better to use some bobby pins from behind and some hair spray.

Actually I would suggest using hairspray once after you have parted your hair in two sections and then using it again once the two knots have been formed. It will provide a good amount of hold.

Don`t worry about sections sticking out, its supposed to be messy.

This hairstyle will work best on someone who doesn't have too many layers. Cos the layers ARE bound to stick out.

Sneak Peek Victoria Secrets Runway 2010

The Victoria Secrets Runway show happened I think two weeks back and it airs on 30th November. Katy Perry performed this year.

I love anything that is Peacock :)

 I know this show isn`t much about fashion. Its more about amazingly hot models who have legs which never seem to end. But I love watching it nonetheless. I love the energy of the show and the girls make it look like so much fun. I love their outlandish styling just for the skimpy lingerie. And those wingggsss!!


I will admit, I don`t mind looking at those leggy models either.

I dont know about Katy Perry and this show. I dont really think SEXY when i see her. I think more quirky and crazy. Maybe they should`ve gotten Rihanna or Beyonce?

As I have said before I don`t think the show is going to be the same without Heidi Klum, who was the lead Victoria Secrets ANGEL for many years. She is the epitome of the funnest model I have seen! Who do you think is going to be the lead This year?
My favourite Victoria Secrets Runway show has got to be the one where Heidi Klum and Seal (her husband) sang together. It was so adorable and I really liked the song too!

Gossip Girl B/Witches Of Bushwick

Since Gossip Girl has been on air (bless that day) it has had many OMFG moments. First they advertised their bad reviews like so..

which I think was pretty clever

There have been plenty of shocking storylines, many drugs from marijuana to cocaine (remember Serenas big secret in season One where the guy overdosed and died?) pregnancies, ridiculous promiscuous behavior, deaths, divorces, threesomes etc. Nothing has shocked me yet or made me say Dude, that was Not cool.


But this weeks episode made me say the Exact thing. I am sorry but Juliet took it a little far with the whole drugging and apparently kidnapping Serena. First of all I think its ridiculous that Vanessa and Jenny are this whole team Brooklyn and want to show the other how it feels to be an outsider. I really do not get the whole concept.  The Four (S,B,C,N) grew up together and have a similar background. So what? They didn't ask for it did they? Why must they be attacked for being born and raised a certain way. Everyone has a background. Instead of being comfortable in it why must some people attack others. By doing so, Vanessa and Jenny making themselves apparent outsiders. Anyway I am getting a little ahead so I am going to rewind to the start.

The episode starts off with Eric and Elliot drawing stuff and Serena comes along and she instantly know its a Venn Diagram. I was nicely surprised to know that Serena knows what a Venn Diagram IS. The writers have stretched the whole Dan-Serena-Nate thing for way too long its getting very annoying. She hasn't been able to PICK one since the ending of last season.
Anyway, the Vanessa-Jenny-Juliet triangle has gone into complete bitch/psycho/need therapy mode. Juliet may possibly have a little crush on Jenny,she was falling all over her and her evil plans. She even proposed being a slave for her ( okay WORKING for her). When Jenny goes to Lily, telling her about Juliet, I saw a little hope for Jenny but alas the writers had tricked me and little J is still a bitch. Sigh.

I consider myself to be pretty 'tech savvy' but maybe not since I do not understand WHICH phone company allows for the existence of two SIM cards with the same number. One SIM card doesn't receive anything, just the outgoing works and the duplicate can receive and send. Wow. Need to suggest that to the Vodafone Puppy.


One realistic thing that happened in the episode and I can relate to was Lily being all Momma Bear on the dean. I know many mothers ( Hi! Mom!!) who will defend their child with all their instinct from any outsider but will give them hell for the same when the two of them are alone. And that is exactly what happened between super mom Lily and Serena.


 Also the dig Juliet made at Lily " Van der woodsen, Bass, Humpfrey, WHAT is her last name" was SO not cool. If I were Serena ( I WISH) Juilet would have a black eye right there and then!! 

Our beloved Chuck and Blair have a little problem. They both have people in their lives telling them to make changes (i.e stop seeing eachother) so they don`t ruin their image, you know for work and stuff. They still manage to help eachother out while indulging in their favourite pastime. And while talking about Balenciaga and Public condemnation Chuck utters those three lovely words.They both ignore it assuming that he did not mean it.

But the ever wise Dorota knocks some sense into Blair who quickly strips down to her nightie and goes to Chucks 'Sinners and Saints' Masquerade.

Meanwhile the awful three ( Juliet Jenny and Vanessa ) are playing around with Dan and Nate. (God those two are dumb) Gossip Girl has to play her part (the show IS named after her) and lets it slip ( yeah right ) that Serena is wearing a Carolina Herrera dress to the Masquerade. Now the writers are REALLY running out of ideas. Do you remember the last masquerade party where Jenny posed as Serena once again and Nate told her he loves her. Come On!

 Juliet puts the money she just received from her recent black mail from Lily to good use and buys two identical dresses, one for herself and Jenny. Both of whom are going to pose as Serena and screw with Dan and Nates head a little more. I dont know how that is possible since neither Juliet nor Jenny have the boobs or the messy bed hair of Serena. Also Juliet isn`t as BLONDE!

To sum it all up the two blonde idiots succeed and ruin Serenas relationship with Dan Nate and Blair. Blair and Chuck decide they WILL be together after all but Blair soon decides she needs to be her own person before she can be Chucks ( good for her! )
The best part is ofcourse that the ego between them has gone and they do in fact love each other.

The fashion of the episode was meh. Nothing significant AT ALL thus this very long recap. I didnt think any of the outfits were worth mentioning.


But tell me who do you prefer Serena with. Nate Dan or the latest tight dress she has on?

Rock The Trend

The title of this post is so because I do, in fact Love Lace. 
I am so glad that it has become acceptable to wear it again these past seasons without looking like you are wearing lingerie and/or a wedding gown.
I love how lace lets you play a game of peek-a-boo without being vulgar or over the top.
The key to wearing this trend is to keep it simple and wear something underneath! We don`t want too much of peeking! 
So what if its getting colder, doesn`t mean you can`t still wear lace. There are plenty of lace sweaters and jackets out there and it`s great to wear it layered as well. You can work lace from day to night and make it look edgy (black lace top with lots of silver accessories) or quite pretty and feminine. You can play with it and get really creative. Here are some sets I put together.

Casual College

I couldn`t really decide between the flats for this look so I put both. You can get the exact same   blue suede shoes [ :) ]  (minus the heel) at Khan Market,Delhi for like Rs.200 

I bought them in three colours last winter and they are amazing!

The Leopard print flat and Bag is from ZARA,the earings from FOREVER 21. You can get something like this bow necklace from Forever 21 aswell.

The last time I went to Forever 21 i saw lots of lace sweaters/sweatshirts and also picked one up. They are really warm and oh-so-cute!

I know I have used a lot of neutral colors in the lace items but there are very few colours apart from the neutrals which look good in lace. Some other colours I would suggest would be purple, navy and emerald green.

I also know that I have mainly used ZARA and FOREVER 21 but its because they seem to have all the good things which are accessible to most of us and at a good price. and Not because they are paying me to feature their products ( I WISH! ) I have not mentioned names or brands of some pieces because they are not available here but something similar definitely is!

Gossip Girl: Juliet Doesn`t Live Here Anymore

Lots of hate sex, Dan gets dumped twice in the same episode by Serena and Juliet wears grey again.


I really like the starting scenes of this episode. I think Leighton Meester acted pretty darn well during her conversation with Serena,while there a bump inside her covers. [ I want Blairs Bed btw, among other things ]

Blair and Chuck cannot keep their hands off each other and when they finally decide to stop Chuck wants 'immersion therapy' while Blair immerses herself into macaroons!
Chuck keeps popping up here and there and finally come into Blairs room wearing This

I cant seem to decide whose night gown that is. Hers or His? I mean Chuck Bass having a velvet nightgown isn`t as absurd as it may sound but it was a really weird fit on him :S


Anyway so there is yet another Black Tie Event in Gossip Girl Land. I am really not complaining, how else will they show us the amazing gowns and dresses. Even though i have mentioned this before here

Blair looked radiant as ever in a Raplh Lauren column dress. It looked like a day dress to me but anyway.

The ballet seemed to be a disaster for Dan ( because Serena called him to the event since she had let go of Collin not knowing that Collin in turn had let go of his job ) Vanessa & Juliet.

Vanessa with her Game Face On. And it looks like a truck full of ruffles threw up on her.

The whole scene with the Dean was pretty funny. Well written I would say. Blair saves Serena and Chuck saves Blair.

So everyone finally knows that Juliet is a liar. But the reason is still umm unkown. And our 4 lead characters don`t bother to figure it out. `Jealousy for Serena` seems plausible enough. I mean yes Serena you have an incredible face a killer body and an even better wardrobe. You have enough money to suppoort a small country and you have hooked up with the hottest men on this show but still that isn`t reason enough for someone to take pictures of you kissing your oh-so-hot proffesor and wanting you expelled. I know its hard for four people who are so pretty to think this much but I thought they could`ve altleast figured out that there was a deeper reason for Juliet's Shenanigans.
They have accomplished alot, these four in this show. I don`t know why THIS was so hard. However I did love the scene where the four of them ( I do hope you know I am referring to Blair Chuck Nate and Serena : ) ) surround Juliet and threaten the hell out of her. I do love a good bullying session by pretty people  take down.

Anyway it`s clearly not the characters fault. The writers have to stretch this weird Juliet storyline as far as they can so that Vanessa and Jenny actually have something to do. Did you see that Jenny had lesser amounts of black shadow on her to tell us that she was just lounging around?


I do not know why Vanessa hates Serena? Is it still the Nate thing? And why does Jenny hate Serena? Is it ALSO the Nate thing? Do Vanessa and Jenny know that ?! Or is it that the two outsiders from Brooklyn are trying to take down the Upper East Siders..Again. *Yawn* We all know how that is going to end.


What i also don`t get is the moment Serena and Collin could actually be together, normally, they were somehow not attracted to each other. Right. Moving on


Now that Collin is out of the picture Serena needs someone else. And since Alphabetically Dan come before Nate she calls him up for the second time in this episode. Ofcourse Nate has superpowers along with his prettiness and reaches there first! Dan, yet again is in the background..looking at Serena with another guy.

Serenas Choice-The girl need to FLIP a COIN

 Who do you like better? Sere-Nate or Sere-Dan.  Dan is way too bland for me. I would love to see Serena and Nate again.

Michelle Obama Style India Visit 2010

The coolest couple in World Politics have landed (with their huge entourage of security men planes and cars,Cadillac One included!). No Sarkozy and Carla Bruni are not the coolest couple in world politics they are just a little strange.
While I would love to try and write about Obama's visit and all the things he`s said and how awesome he is (which he is) and what relevant and important things he said, I won`t. Well cos I can`t. I`ll probably end up agreeing with everything he says because I might not know any better plus he is a damn good orator! 


What I Can do is talk about what Michelle Obama wore through out the trip : )


I have always loved Michelle Obama`s style.

This has become somewhat of an iconic dress, at the inauguration of Obama's term as President.

 Loving the Pearls

 She has quite an umm unusual figure. I would say she has an athletic built but she wears very feminine things so that works out well for her. Also cos she`s so damn tall she sticks to kitten heel, which I am not a big fan of. But I totally understand, she cant wear pumps and be taller than her husband! I am not being sexist here.Im just sayin' (Carla Bruni is taller than he husband heels or no heels! )

She landed in Mumbai wearing this grey dress with pearl buttons,

some say it resembled a kurti. I dont know why there is an obsession in us Indians to turn everything to resemble something Desi. Its really not the case always you know. I mean its just a dress.

I wish I could get my hands on some better pictures of this look of hers cos that pearl necklace is to die for.

I don`t particularly like this look. The top seems to be clashing with the skirt. The skirt and the top could work separately. I do like her brooch though.

This was a very Chanel-Jacki O dress which was sweet and simple. I love that she busted some moves! Just shows how fun she is. There are videos everywhere of her dancing and they are so sweet! Even Obama shook a leg : )
Can you imagine George Bush doing that when he had come to India? Ha!



In The Capital! 

At a Dinner hosted for the Obama`s, Michelle wore a Naem Khan creation and it looked absolutely amazing. I really like the jacket, it has the Indian touch (which was so in demand apparently) without overdoing it.

This is at Humayun`s Tomb. I really like the colour of her dress and the contrast between the sweater and dress can be seen in the picture below. But maybe the hemline could be a little higher.
Also why does it look so crumpled? Did they not have an iron in the amazing Five Star Hotel Room they were staying at?

Maybe it was because of the time restraint. Anyway it just shows that no one is perfect. Not even the First Lady Of The United States!

This is what she wore at Rajghat. I am loving the colour of the skirt. It reminds me of a peacock and I have been obsessed with peacock colours forever. I dont know whats going on with her hair though. Why has it been all gelled up. She has a really cute bob. I don`t know why she`s decided to wear her hair up. Looks a little off.

She loves chunky jewellery (see pearl necklace,brooch etc) So she picked up this from the Handicrafts museum in Delhi. I was watching the news and they were saying she spent about two hours there and reportedly ran out of money!

Showing her silly side.

She clearly chose dresses which would suit the traditional Indian style so she doesn`t offend any one or any party which was very sensible and diplomatic of her. She didn`t wear many flashy colours so she doesnt attract too much attention ( but of course she did, she`s Michelle Obama for gods sake! )

But I read many designers saying that she should`ve worn a sari. Why? Why should she wear a sari? Just beacuse she`s in India? And how can a person totally alien to the concept of a sari ( she may have seen pictures and know about it a little ) wear it in one day and know how to walk sit etc in it. We have grown up with seeing women in our lives wearing saris so obviously it is not difficult for us. But to expect someone who is on a very tight schedule and to wear a sari is kind of ridiculous. 

And ho do you know if she`s comfortable wearing one? Have you seen any her in any outfit where she is baring her midriff? Maybe she isn`t comfortable doing that since shes not accustomed to it. It wouldn`t be such an issue if she was here for longer and could learn to wear a Sari. I don`t know maybe some people would disagree with me but I don`t think you just wear a sari, you have to learn how to BE in a sari, how to move in it.

And just expecting it cos its our traditional dress is like saying if some Indian diplomat goes to Scotland he should wear a kilt. I would like to see that happen. 

On Another note, I wish they had got the First Dog of United states.
