So, if you grace this blog with your presence often, you might be wondering why I have a title that seems to reflect my (apparent) problem with my height. But I am sorry, okay. I have issues with it.
I wore heels..not even full on pumps, just a little heel to a get together recently, and as soon as I entered all I could hear were moans. No they were not people moaning at how amazing I looked.
My friends were complaining and repeatedly asking me "WHY ARE YOU WEARING THOSE'' & "DO YOU LIKE TO MAKE US FEEL BAD?"

Well what am I supposed to do if they are..well SHORT? I want to wear heels, Hell I want to wear PUMPS. All The Time. I like how they look okay, and they give me good posture.
But no. I cant, without looking like the BIG (somewhat)FRIENDLY GIANT. And yes, this would be the place for people to say, why are you complaining, you are so tall. Whats the big deal? ( I`am 5'8, if I have failed to mention before.)
Don`t get me wrong, I love how tall I am. It does have its numerous advantages. But then the pitfalls include not being able to wear the kind of footwear you lust after. And if I happen to wear them once in awhile, I get all the girls really whiny and the guys absolutely HATE the fact that I am taller than them. Once this guy friend came over before we were heading out for a party, when he saw I was wearing heels, he wouldn't budge from my house until I changed into flats, or anything that wouldn't make him look like a midget!
Anyway, the grass is always greener on the other side right? Girls with curly hair want straight hair, girls with straight hair want to curl their hair all the time.
But I don`t even WANT to reduce my height or anything. Why cant other people be taller. OR why don`t they wear heels as well!?
Sorry for this incredibly RANDOM and VAIN post. The next one will be about a very socially relevant and pressing issue.

Love this one !!! Dude i have the same exact problem. I am not as tall as you but i am around 5'7...i cannot for the life of me wear heels...its really irritating..i just dont like towering over people...

And to add to the topic "shit i ve been hearing" is when one of my hubby's relatives asked me, why do I have the need to buy heels(it wasnt even a 2 inch pump)when I am so tall(I am just 5'6"). Well, I have my likes/dislikes. But I didnt say that to her. Also, when people deliberately ask me "what's your height?", I say 5'6". And they are like "i am pretty sure you are much taller than that. ". Oh really- so you have an inch tape glued to your eyes? Awww...I feel your pain. At 5'6'' all I've wanted is to be two inches taller! I usually wear wedges to school cause I hate how my pants fit in flats!!!!!! *Sigh*

ReplyDeleteAnd I totally understand what you're saying about the height, I am 5'7.5'' myself and hate it when people growl at me for wearing heels. I don't feel comfortable myself when I am holding everyone by the shoulders in pictures. Haha! But yah, I am trying to make peace with it and started collecting nice flats! :P
Well one good advantage of being fat: nobody notices a little weight gain. Haha! Thats whats saving me :P
Maybe we should make a group of tall women and all wear the heels we lust for and go out and not be moaned at and feel great! ;)

This post really made me smile. For most people the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm almost 5'6" & I've always wished I was taller. But all that was due to self esteem issues & I've made peace with my height. I have a friend who's 5'7" & often wears platform heels. Her husband is shorter than her (without heels) & doesn't mind in the least. I say ignore everyone else & do what you want. You only live once, right?

Thankfully, here in Hyderabad most of the girls I know are around 5'10" and guys wayyy taller..and I am pretty short at 5'8" in front of them.. Though my best friends are tiny and wont let me wear heels!:)

Seriously I have searched all over India, and gone through countless brands to find absolutely NONE.
So next time you want them to wear heels and feel as tall as you, go shoe shopping with them. You shall be depressed for life.
Trust me, Indians somehow get this weird notion that we shorties are human enough to wear shoes. Oompa Loompas maybe?
Forget heels. Do you have ANY fucking idea as to HOW hard it is to find closed shoes in my size?
I figure not.
So bless your stars for being tall and please forgive yourself for EVER wishing that others 'should be taller or something'.

But the post was an observation(a very random and not to be taken extremely seriously observation) abt MYSELF and my friends and i dont really know ppl who are short and also have the trouble of finding shoes in an appropriate size. THUS i did not mention it. Hope you dont judge too fast, about things u dont know abt :)

I'm 5'10 so imagine my plight when I never get any thing long enough to cover my butt & don't even get me started on the shoes!! my size is possibly extinct in India(size 10,I know right??) & even if I do find a decent pair of pumps I look taller than most guys!!

But I don't really care, and wear 4inch high heels anyway. It's my leg. I'd like to dress it any way I like. Those who don't like it can maintain a safe distance.

Heyy...I m 5.11...i wear prob a 2 inches heels once in a while...but en am a lil on d clumsy side so cant risk it..prefer sticking to flats :) ...but its so diff to get jeans/comfy shoes in my size(size 41) ...girl its grt to b tall,d ppl who make u self cons r mostly defensive abt they bn midgets!
