Collar Necklace

Ever since I saw Tanvii wearing a nice chunky necklace over a buttoned up shirt when she went for the IFB conference, this way of wearing a necklace has been popping up everywhere.
I don't really know what to call it, but its such an usual yet simple way to accessorize your outfit.

We seldom button up the shirts we wear all the way up to the neck. It does end up looking a little formal and well-man like. But by adding a chunky necklace, it makes it feminine and also brings a little quirky to the outfit!

Tanvii in New York.
For me, SHE started the trend!
That necklace is to DIE for!

Since I was feeling so inspired looking at her, and also the bajillion pictures on Tumblr, I decided to give it a go myself!

Give it a little Ethnic Twist

Shirts from Forever21. First two necklaces - The classy & Fabulous shop
Last two ethnic ones-here and there in delhi!

Other pictures, found all over the inter web

People Crowns Priyanka Chopra India`s Best Dressed

When I started this blog last year, one of my first posts was about People`s Best dressed Issue. Last time it was Twinkle Khanna, who certainly deserved the title. But I am very confused by their choice this year.
I had commented last year how they should`ve maybe put Priyanka Chopra (and also Kareena Kapoor) in their list of best dressed. But that didnt mean GIVE PC the damn title.

Okay so now you`re going to read my completely biased opinion on a random title given to an actress by a magazine while other important things are going on in the country/world.
Anyway..

So yes, I am left completely baffled by their choice this year. Whenever I try to picture Priyanka Chopra, in the context of clothes and fashion what comes to mind are really short tight dresses and tattered jeans. And maybe the hot sari+blouse she wore in Desi girl.

But  I am quite bored of her style. I mean I would like to see some RANGE and VERSATILITY in someones choice of clothing when they`re supposedly best dressed. Dont get me wrong, I think she pulls off those short tight dresses wonderfully..most people try and fail but its sort of her signature look. Funnily enough when People tries to replicate her look it features a tight short skirt. So even they know what she`s memorable for!

I have a problem with the entire styling of the shoot as well.
Lets look at the cover shall we ?

Now say HELLO to the twins..
Done?
Moving ON

Isnt her skin tone a little darker? Why have they whitened her up? And i just dont understand how these celebrities can STAND for that?

And WHAT is she WEARING? THIS is what a best dressed person wears on the COVER announcing that shes best dressed. Do you SEE a problem here?
Please see Twinkle Khanna`s shoot last year and compare it to this.

HOW does this photo say "best dressed"? To me it says really nice 60`s hair and make-up
She`s wearing a Michael Kors top but come ON! Isnt it a little too plain for a best dressed photoshoot.
And as we can see this ISNT her style. Its blingy and SHORT!

WHERE are the clothes in this shoot? I can only see boobs!

In the interview inside PC says that her parents were quite conservative and would only let her wear XL size  t shirts. So at least now we know why there is always the need to wear short and tight dresses!
She also goes on to say that when she was 15, she used to wear alot of ripped jeans. Well someone hasn't really outgrown that phase, have they?

Atleast the Twinkle Khanna shoot had variety, she was wearing an Abu-Sandeep sari and a dress.
Here we finally see her in a (short tight) dress that actually reflects her style.

Anyway, to sum it up- I do LIKE Priyanka Chopra and yes, I did comment upon her absence from the list last year but she IS NOT Indias Best dressed.

I DO NOT like Sonam Kapoor, at all, but of course I agree (grudgingly) that she is a well dressed person. Maybe put her on the damn cover? Even Kareena for that matter.

Onto The List

Deepika Padukone

The Statuesque Star

I dont know why they call her Statuesque? Cos she`s tall. Wow
Anyway, I do really like DPads sense of style. Its pretty laid back and chic at the same time.

Sonam Kapoor

The Artful Dresser

What is with these titles. I would say she`s fashion forward! She tries out every trend out there.
As you know I dont like her. But yeah the clothes she wears are damn nice, when I ignore whose wearing them.

Anushka Sharma

The Change Artist

She IS getting there. I think MAJOR faux pas happened with that light blue satin dress she wore recently and it was all crinkled!

Freida Pinto

The Minimalist

Uffff I DO NOT like this woman. I prefer Sonam over her and thats saying ALOT
Who is she and what has she done!? She`s famous for being a movie that was good and won an Oscar
What the crap did SHE do?
NEXT!

Kareena Kapoor

The Casual Diva

Totes agree! I am not a fan of her I mean shes okay so this isn't a biased view but if they didn't give best dressed to Sonam, Kareena should`ve gotten it.
Sure there are people like Neha Dhupia (coming up) and Dia Mira but who are we kidding they want someone with considerable star power.
I dont see why it cant be Kareena. I quite appreciate the looks she pulls off.

Shilpa Shetty

The Siren

Agreed!!!

Twinkle Khanna

The Jewellery Junkie

Its amazing how many quirky acessories she manages to pair with really elegant outfits!

Neha Dhupia

The Fashionista

Another girl who is really fashion forward and I admire her for that

Prerna Goel

The Bohemian

I dont know who this person is and I googled her and all I got was socialite. From the looks people pulled for her, her style seems okay. I quite like the multi strand necklace shes wearing in one look.

So that was my take on the supposed best dressed people of India. Did they miss anyone? Should someone be kicked off the list
What do YOU think?

...And The Rest Of The 'Weeks'

This post contains looks from all the international fashion week barring New York Fashion Week

Elie Saab
Elie Saab named this collection , "COLOUR SHOCK" and a shock it sure was. I never expected him to do such tangerine and juicy colours as the yellow and pumpkin below. He mostly does pastels or scarlets.
But ofcourse he manages to give these colours his classic feminine and flowy touch that we all  love so much!!

Nothing is better than one of my favourite designers and one of my favourite colour schemes- Jewel tones.
+ lace and sequins.
Ugh. I would give an arm and a leg for this collection. But I am not sure if it`ll look all that nice on an amputees body then.

Although his signature neutrals were not far behind. He actually opened with them.

 Genius

LOUIS VUITTION

Marc Jacobs is another genius, but his collection for LV didnt excite me this time.
Wasn't a fan of the sweet ice creamy colours nor the low waist skirts :S

Kate Moss closed for him and the fashion frat went gaga.

Photobucket
The most exciting thing about this show was how the models got off from a carousel

Manish Arora for PACO ROBANNE

Our very own Manish Arora designed an entire collection fro Paco Rabanne. I love the broken glass effect above.
And check out his dull gold shoes :)

CHANEL

Karl Lagerfeld transformed the runway to reflect the 'underwater world' since his collection was all about that.
He used quite a bit of mother of pearl sheen in the collection, the lightness of which was shinning through.

                                    Miranda Kerr

How cool is this new twist on the chain link bag?

Karl with Florence Welch (who btw is INSIDE a shell)

Karl, Florence & His creations

Valentino

How adorable are the frocks?

McQueen by Sarah Burton

  Loving the silver ruffle dress

Dolce & Gabbana

I love how they interpreted colour for spring, not through flowers but vegetables. How ingenious is that? Silly school teacher thing to say but of course we have so many vibrant vegetables! Its so silly that we just never think about them like that.

The eggplants, zucchinis, tomatoes, and hot peppers you'd find at an outdoor market were seen as  oversize prints that on  fit-and-flare dresses and midriff-baring bra tops and full skirts. Farfalle pasta shapes and garlic cloves dangled from earrings.

I absolutely LOVE how these two dresses below flow and drape.

Also had cocktail dresses and corsets dripping with crystals for the night time

Givenchy

I love the lines of this collection and also the mother of pearl effect. Plus the fact that Gisele Bundchen closed the show!

Gucci

Gucci took the world by storm with their last S/S collection For me it was them who really started the colour blocking and if you went into a Zara or something you could see where their inspiration was coming from.

This time their collections is not so bold with colour but I do like the patterns and the structured jackets.

My favourites would have to be Elie Saab and Dolce & Gabbana
Which ones were yours?

Yep, Thats me in sewing class!
