Christmas Gift Guide Of Sorts

Yes Yes we live in the land of India and I bet very FEW people take this thing of giving gifts to people seriously.
I happen to be in that tiny group, since I am SUCH a materialistic person. And I make no apologies for it.
As I have said before, my mother ALWAYS has gifts for me under the Christmas tree, since I was a tiny person and TILL now (21!) Of course the quantity has decreased significantly *cough* but its still exciting to get presents all wrapped up nicely under the tree :)
This is the first year that I will be giving PROPER gifts to people. Apart from buying stuff, wrapping it up is also SO fun for me. I get a kick out of it!

Anyway...so here is a small list of some cool pressies you can get for some people, or even your self :) This would`ve also been a year when I would`ve bought myself quite a significant Christmas Present. But I cant seem to find it ANYWHERE, which is quite frustrating cos its SUCH a common thing. It so happens that they have decided to run out of it at THIS precise moment. So I guess I am giving people things and getting nothing for myself. Will have to wait- I shall make myself feel better with some new clothes :P

So somethings mentioned here, some people in my life MAY be getting it. I will try to hide it as much as I can though :)

The first of my picks are CASES..in general. Whether for ipads-iPhones-Ipods Or blackberry. There is SO much variety out there it makes my head spin. And such cute and creative things make me want to buy ALL of them.
This will be a great gift since its a unisex present, and I think we all mustve realized at some point in our lives, how difficult it is to buy ANYTHING for boys/men!  (Thanks to Imsu for giving me the Idea!)

  1.  Leather Buckle Ipad Case
  2. Vintage BookCase
  3. Vers Woodcase
  4. Colcasac

As you can tell I REALLY like the bunny cases. I have a thing for bunnies. What to do. but LOOK at that tail. COME ON!
These look really girly, I know, but there are looottsss of nice designs that I bet a boy would like as well. My boyfriend has a really nice one for his ipod and I am super jealous of it :(

You can easily get these in any market. Ive seen really good quality and also a lot of variety in the Khan market shops. Otherwise there is always EBAY!
And I just found out this indian site for cellphone cases - fommy.co.in  it seems a little expensive. I dunno :S

NEXT is something that EVERY bag obsessed person needs! A BAG SWITCHER!!
You basically put all your essentials you need, all the time no matter what bag you are carrying. And then whenever you change bags, instead of putting everything from one bag to the other you just take this entire thing and put it into your new bag!
You wont leave anything out and it makes life so much simplier!
LOVE it.
I came across a facebook page that do them..but havnt mentioned where you can buy them.I did ask them but didnt hear back.
Otherwise search for it on ebay and you`ll get it for under $10!

Another great gift would be MAKE UP! I cant remember the last time I picked some make up from a counter. I go straight to the numerous online sites and place my order.

Okay yeah so last week I made a quick run to NewU for some kajal and I realized why I have stopped shopping for make up over the counter. The sales people are ALWAYS so pushy.
Take this..and this and THIS.
Ugh NO! Let me browse in peace woman. and while you are giving me some space go take off more than HALF your make up. Thanks!

Anyway so you get my point right. Ordering online is so much easier.
My top two sites would be

Lastly, I would recommend BOOKS!!

I don`t think any explanation is needed so just giving some of my pics.
I did a separate post on Fashion Books.

two books that have been on my wishlist on flipkart for some time. I NEED  the Harry Potter one

before bossypants.

are great books for anyone who likes to read and is interested in fashion

So that was that. I do hope you liked my little Christmas gift guide.
Let me know if you have some ideas as well :)

Tiny Beautyjoint Haul

I made a 'test' order from beautyjoint.com on the 1st of December. I have had a really bad experience before, with Cherry culture, last year, where I ordered in October and it got lost then they resent it (I had to buy Fedex shipping the second time around, which was SO expensive) and I finally got the package in February! You can read about it here & here.

Not wanting the same to happen this time I ordered 5 things. And it came in yesterday. So it took 12 days :)

I ordered TWO Kleancolor nailpolishes. They come for $1.75 which isnt bad. Rs 93 (but thats just the base price cos they add shipping and paypal eats up come money aswell)

They have sooo many colours in this. The two I bought were - Chunky Holo Fuschia and Disco Ball. Now these two are extra shiny which is great but I doubt you can wear them by themselves. I mean the colour payoff isnt that great. The Holo fuchsia has a very light maroon to it so I would wear it over a burgundy and put two coats of it and Disco Ball definitely needs to be applied over something. It just has chunks of blue and purple and comes on transparent. But thats okay. I think it`ll look pretty over a blue or even white!

Although I would like to see some of their solid colours and test them out, whether they are opaque or not.

Next I jumped on the bandwagon of crackle nailpolish and got the Black one from Cherimoya. You should check these out even if you are not into crackle nailpolishes. They have a doomsday(2012 and what not)  theme to them and all witty nailpolish name lovers would really like the names :)

I got the one in eternity. It was for 2.99$ (Rs 159) but again no point going by these prices. You end up paying more anyway

Then I got my FIRST China Glaze nail polish which I am SO excited about. I got PINK VOLTAGE NEON! It looks chalky in the picture but the camera couldnt pick up its neaon-ness. It is the brightest barbie pink you wouldve seen and its dries to become matte. Again pretty cool $3.99= Rs 213

Lastly got the Nyx Matte Lipgloss in Milan and its wonderful. Really nice 'My lips but better' colour and stays for quite some time. I washed my face and it was still there!
Since its matte, it does settle in the lines of your lips so scrub before using
The smell MIGHT be irritating for some people but I dont know how it could be cos it smells like an expensive bakery!
Yum!

So I ordered 5 things. 4 nail polishes and One lip gloss. The total was $15.47
Shipping was $9.14
Handling fee $1
and I bought shipping insurance just to be safe- $1.99

The total came to $27.60
=Rs1467 (after paypal ate its share and at the dollar : rupee rate of that day)

So each product cost me Rs 293 which isnt bad :) Considering Urban touch has the nyx lipgloss for Rs 600!

I made another order yesterday, Yeah I know- I need to be restrained!

Kinari Bazaar-Chandni Chowk

Visit Kinari Bazaar once and you feel like getting married JUST for the sake of it. Feel like having a mega bollywood-esque wedding (even if you are completely against extravagant wasteful weddings)just so you could create all these clothes for yourself :)

Once you see these little shops in the tiny lanes with their enormous collection of borders and embellishments, you will never want to buy something from a botique or designer, you`d want to design something yourself.

This is exactly what happened to me. I went looking for a simple border for a bright coral chiffon sari I had. No lavish wedding to go to, I was just hoping to wear it on Diwali. Even though I got a border I really LOVE, I came back feeling a little disappointed. Cos each shop I went to, a thousand ideas came to my head and I wanted to buy so many things. But where would I WEAR these things I was designing in my HEAD!?

I was pestering my mother so much, continuously telling her how our small family never has any grand wedding which one can plan and make outfits for. I pestered her so much apparently that she actually said I should get married. If you knew my mother you`d know how bizarre it is for her to say this.

ANYWAY.. there is no way I can actually describe the beautiful things I came across so I shall let this post turn into a Photo Diary of sorts :)

Trying out different borders on the Sari.

I fell in LOVE with these! Need to make something with this ASAP. If only an occasion would present itself  :(

My mother bought herself a cutwork parsi border.
It was for Rs 4500.
Thinking of using it over a cream chiffon maybe.

The other colours it was available in

Yep. JUST borders.

This is what I finally picked. From the first shop I visited :) (you can spot it in the first picture)
It was for Rs 2100 and my mother painstakingly  sewed it on.
AndI didnt even end up wearing it on diwali. Opppss!

I have a really nice turquoise blouse to go with this.

Cutest thing EVER invented! I picked up two and they drive the dogs at home crazy!

Let me know if you like this style of post? Few words, LOTS of pictures? If yes then I went to Sarojini on Saturday, might do one on that.

Thats EXACTLY how you will feel while shopping in the tiny lanes of kinari bazaar.. but you must PERSEVERE for the love of all things pretty!
