Chikankari Was Doing Pastels Before It Was Cool

SEWA has a Chikankari exhibition till the 30th of this month, in the Aga Khan Hall, Delhi.

The work displayed is quite amazing, and intricate.

SEWA - Self Employed Womens Association, is a co-operative, which basically means that all the money from the sales goes back to the women who have made these wonderful pieces.
This is an organization which is FOR the workers, and the promotion of this craft rather than JUST profit.

 Your mind gets a little blown, when you try and wrap your head around the fact that THIS is ALL hand work.

Someone SAT there and this did, to make it LOOK this beautiful.

So when you are buying such pieces, you know ALOT of hard work, care and love has gone into it. And also alot of time.

The workers there were telling me yesterday, how many people come and claim that this is all done my a computer- 'computerized kadhai'
I couldnt believe how ignorant and offensive people can be.

Jaali work. all hand done.

So if you are in Delhi, you have today and tomorrow to go check it out :) They get new stock everyday.
They are based in Lucknow.

Aishwariya Rai In Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla

(I refuse to call her aishwariya rai BACHCHAN)

I do admit, I am an Aishwariya Rai basher. I have said a LOT of mean things about her, over the years. About the way she dresses, the same old anarkali. How her face looked more pregnant than her tummy etc etc.

 But today I am not going to. At least I am going to try! Since it`ll make such a BIG difference to her..Ha!

 I am not going to say - ofcourse she got the L`oreal "ICONIC Woman of Worth Award" since they`ve been kissing her behind for god knows how long (remember the ads they issued, of their 10 year strong relationship with her, when the Sonam Kapoor controversy broke.)

This is what she wore at the awards. A neon geometric print Long kurta from the Abu jani-Sandeep Khosla summer collection. The churidarr was a nice coral colour.
I tried to find a picture of it on the ramp but couldnt.

Anyway.

I must stop all my aishwariya bashing and admit that I do like her choice this one time. EVEN though it`s the SAME old long salwar with churridar, I am LOVING the neon and the patterns.

The silhouette does absoluetly nothing to her post baby body, (see she looks like a giant column in the above pic) but considering this woman hardly EVER takes any risks with her clothing, when she takes a little one with colour, I can appreciate that. 

Its so fresh and young., something she never ever does. Now I do not know whom to credit this to, the person who is wearing it or the people who made it. But I am assuming it would look better - a little fitted on someone who is fitter.

Okay sorry, I was talking the same old 'criticizing her' path again.

So that was my good deed of the day :)

I just wish she would loose the weight already. Didnt she give birth in like November or something?

Look at Lara, and she gave birth THIS year.

Now please dont start with the whole ' she just gave birth, give her a break, she beautiful no matter what ' deal.
She has chosen to be in the limelight, she will be spoken about. Plus I dont even have such an issue with weight as much as I have with being TONED.

And its not impossible. Look at Karishma Kapoor, Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr.

ANYWAY, basically - loving the colours and print on Ms. Rai. Though most people on the net didnt seem to be liking it too much, much to my surprise.
