Bollywood Style Watch - Sonakshi Sinha On The Front Row

Sonakshi Sinha was on this weeks The Front Row, promoting her new movie were she plays a village girl (joker?). As she did in her 1st and 2nd movie. Anyway, moving on from her versatility, the reason I am writing about her is because of what she wore.

The skirt and shoes look really dowdy, but I cannot get over the top.

I absolutely love this beaded pussybow top from Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna and a Louis Vuitton Skirt.

The only problem is the hair. Why did her hairstylist give her that puff on the forehead? She has a HUGE forehead. Why did that have to be accentuated.

A simple updo would've worked much better.

She talked about  how she was really enjoying studying fashion and Salman Khan told her "why are u wasting your life, loose weight - and ACT"

Wow.

Anyway, for someone who says that she was really enjoying studying fashion, she isn`t someone whose looks and outfits stick out.

But she does wear a lot of Indian designers, so props to her :)

Thoughts?

Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla's Book Launch

Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla's had the launch of their book 'India Fantastique' recently and of course all of bollywood royalty was present. Most were in exquisite pieces by the the two designers.

Tabu in a Gota Pati anarkali.

Gauri Khan in a similar sari she wore at the premier of Ra.One

Suzanne Roshan in an extremely blingy dress, which I doubt could be Abu- Sandeep.

Loving this pastel lemon suit on DPad. Its quite perfect actually, specially with the hair up and flower in her bun. My ONLY gripe is I wish she wouldve matched her nailpolish. Her toes seem to be a neon pink while her nails arnt. Anyway that just one thing I can`t stand on people.

Love this simple white and neon pink salwaar kameez on Juhi.

Sweta Nanda`s outfit would have to be my favourite. Absolutely love the colour and work. Mum wore a simple gota pati sari.

Amrita Singh wore something similar, quite amazing as well.

Aishwariya Rai in a Neon maxi dress. Atleast I THINK its a maxi dress. The detailing is quite mind boggling. And while it might seem to overwhelm her a little, its a refreshing change of sorts to see her in anything other than a damn anarkali.

She still looks chubby, but certain angles are not that bad. Like the picture below.

Seems like I spoke too soon. The very next day( or maybe two) she was back to looking like a south indian aunty. Can someone PLEASE tell her, her face has put.on.weight. DON`T wear your hair UP!

Would love to see better and closer pictures of Anupama Chopra`s outfit.

Loving the colour of Sonali`s Coral sari

Shoba De wearing a classic chikankari sari, obviously by the designer duo. But I am more interested in what happening with the girl, who seems to be on stilts in the background.

Look at Sr. Bachchan being all shiny disco balls

The event took place at antila, so I wonder why Neeta Ambani didnt come out for any pictures. Really want to see what she must be wearing.

And wouldn`t it be a great PR move to atleast let photographer take pictures from somewhere closer, so picture quality is better and we get to see the detailing of the clothes. Hmph. They need to hire me to manage them I say :)

Manish Arora @ Delhi Couture Week

I had gone to see Manish Arora`s show on Friday at Delhi Couture Week. The show which was supposed to start at 9 pm started at 10:30. I had ample time to take a tonne of pictures, but after a bit it got a little annoying. Fashion events in this country do start really late, but this is probably the longest I had to wait for one.

At the Signature Lounge

Anand Bhushan

 Nida Mehmood and Anupma Dayal

Pooja Misra was the sole 'celebrity' there.

And she looked might pleased with her self.
Also she was wearing probably the worlds ugliest anarkali. I didn`t take a full length of her, scared that my camera might break.

How cool is this guys shirt? With cats! and glass work. Went really well with the glass work in the lounge and the chandeliers.

Rohit Bal wearing a really cool Rajesh Pratap silk starry blazer

and it changed colour!

(No it didn`t. I am lying)

Rohit Bal giving a LOT of interviews. This was the very day after when he said "bollywood is fashion in this country and we are fool", so obviously the media was lapping everything and anything else that he had to say.

This woman came in, wearing a Chanel crossword shirt dress. Dunno if it`s real but it is quite cool!

"Fashion for the bold, by the bold"

Nainika (of Gauri & Nainika)

Ambika Pillai  being interviewed by the ndtv good times host whose name I cannot remember anymore.

Nida Mehmood & Anupama Dayal

Nida`s cool owl pants!

Everyone waiting outside MSA, the show was now one hour late.

Finally inside and people were awestruck! The neon polka dots, accentuated by ultra violet lights were reminiscent of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. It was quite a sight as the from Main Show area was covered with these polka dots.

And on the ramp was this huge installation. A gigantic cage. And as I waited another half an hour, I was left wondering how are we supposed to see the clothes and models that walk through the cage. Won`t it be a little obstructive?

And then finally the lights were swtiched off and a model wearing a dress with lights on it appeared.

That was all that could be seen.

And then BOOM the installation light up and the audience was awestruck again. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life.

But I have to admit that my excitement and the novelty factor of the light cage soon dissipated,  as my apprehensions came true. I could not see ONE single garment that walked by.

After this picture, I was told by one of the ushers to not use flash! Seriously? While the rest of the people continued to. I think just because I was near the corner, and the guy was able to say something to me. Which was quite pissing off.
First there is a huge ass cave on the ramp, and now I should switch off my flash!?

After taking numerous horrible low light pictures, I decided to screw it and use the flash.

Anyway, it was quite obvious that the whole light cage was for the photographers in the photographers pit, who would be taking front shots, which would be published everywhere, and for the few people in the front row.

Another disappointing thing was that it was a retrospective, he showed pieces that he had shown in Paris and also here. There was nothing new which would leave you mesmerized.

Also he used real fur and seemed quite proud of the fact saying "
they're real, they're legal"This has made him fall a little in my eyes. I mean not that it matters to anyone if he falls anywhere in MY eyes, but still...
